San Pedro Santa Barbara

Has anyone heard of San Pedro in California? I will never admit:) For many years the city of Los Angeles, treated as a single organism, only years later realized that it is a conglomeration of small towns under a common name. So often typing the address in the GPS was surprised that it came across not where I needed. I understood how important it is to give a proper name "city", not just enter Main Street - Los Angeles, there are many such streets in San Pedro, Santa Monica and El Secundo ... and this is part of a large conurbation called LA San Pedro was within the greater Los Angeles in 1909 and serves as one of the largest commercial ports on the west coast.

Together with the Long Beach form the Port of Los Angeles, almost unimaginable port behemoth with a countless number of cranes and kontenerów.Przeglądając pictures in the guides I came across a pretty exotic building - a huge, cast bronze bell placed under the roof - in a pagoda Asian style. I knew where to start and what to look for. I set myself the goal of inventing as many "pearls" in this boring and uninteresting place for what I personally think LA.

parked the car at the Los Angeles Maritime Museum (Maritime Museum of the City of Los Angeles), where two floors are open to the public. Outside the set piece of the deck warship USS Los Angeles. Opposite the museum is a monument commemorating the Mariners Mercantile with a small fountain and a sculpture of sailors climbing the ladder. I did a little walk around the Historic Old San Pedro, intimate village center, the low buildings and ... time, which had stopped at this point.

is a different, more Port of Los Angeles as we know it. On the sidewalk at 6th street there are plaques commemorating the glory of sport, more modest edition of Walk of Fame on Hollywood Blvd. Every step we find small cafes and restaurants. Everything is very visually appealing but it has "its own atmosphere."

I'm coming back through the museum and turns along the quay in the direction of Port O'Call Village. Residues from a small fishing village. Currently converted to restaurants and shops. Large crowd of people and completely covered by a large parking lot shows the attractiveness of local venues restaurants serving mainly fresh seafood.

This place can be considered quite photogenic. There is too much interference in the architecture and we have a picture of what this place was here for decades. Small wooden fishing dominated, tightly arranged, close together and palms. It is nice.

Season find the famous bell. I enter the parameters in the GPS and ... already. The famous Korean Friendship Bell, a gift from the government of South Korea, is so close that the injury to go. But the lack of time and won going. The road up the hill like driving at San Francisco, I get to Lookout Point Park. Beautiful colorful pagoda in the middle of the bell are located on a hilltop with panoramic views of the ocean and countryside. At the bottom you can see the beaches and the Point Fermin lighthouse.

I immediately remembered one of my favorite movies "The Usual Suspects" with Kevin Spacey, which has one of the scenes were filmed here. Moreover, the same city of San Pedro is that the location is well liked in the films by directors from Hollywood. List of films shot here is impressive!
